I’ve worked in professional services in UK universities for over 20 years, at six universities and across different areas but with a particular interest in different aspects of education. So why after all this time set up a blog about UK higher education?
I suspect that it was my tendency to need to write in order to know what I think, which led me to start blogging in early 2023. I began with some posts on WonkHE, followed by a LinkedIn article. Having started I’m not sure if or when I’ll finish, but I do know that I’ve valued the opportunity to work through some thoughts and issues via my blogs. And that I’ve benefited from the insights and comments from others that the posts have prompted.
Which is why this blog now exists, to give me the space and opportunity to do a bit more of this. The posts on this blog all relate to UK higher education. But the perspectives and views they contain are entirely my own, and not those of past, current or future employers (as is the case for guest authors as well).
What’s written here is strictly as an ‘extracurricular activity’. So they’re one of the things I get up to when ‘left to my own devices’.
